The old Lutheran Church here at Mosheim. A true 1 room church built in the 1890's. The original log church was used as a field hospital just after the battle of Blue Springs. Most of the troops treated on this site were from US General Ambrose Burnside's Corps as they pulled back towards Knoxville. Another field hospital site is located just a stones throw from here & it now has a bank sitting on it. The old church has been used as a movie prop for a couple of lower budget films. I fear for this old structure.....it is now vacant. | ||

Here's one that may be hard to find even with a map. Carter's Station Methodist church at Albany community, E Tenn. This area was settled in the 1780's as a harbor for early pioneers coming into this area. Davy Crockett's grandparents were some of these people. Used as a field headquarters by the 4th, 5th, 10th Kentucky Calvary CSA, also General Vaughn's E Tennesseeans.....they all rode together. My hunch is John Hunt Morgan occupied this building from time to time. This is a magnificent structure with 16 foot windows. If you are by this way on Sunday morning stop in for services. | ||
